Meet Michael H. Porter, DDS
Dr. Porter is dedicated to providing exceptional care, combining leading technological advances, safety, and expertise to ensure a comfortable experience and optimal results for his patients.
From a young age, Dr. Porter knew he wanted to become a dentist and follow in the footsteps of his father who showed great care and compassion for his patients. Learning from this example, Dr. Porter dedicated his career to oral surgery and to exceptional patient care.
Dr. Porter completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training at the Washington Hospital Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Children’s National Medical Center in the nation’s capitol, Washington, D.C. and in Baltimore, Maryland. He was one of only three doctors accepted to this rigorous training program and was Chief Resident in his final year.
He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABOMS), a full member of American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the American Dental Association (ADA), the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA) and the South Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (SCSOMS).
Dr. Porter practices a broad scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery but especially enjoys dental implants and jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) because of the life-changing effect these surgeries can have for his patients. Dr. Porter has completed hundreds of hours of additional training in these areas and continues to learn while pursing his passion for oral maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Porter and his family are proud to call Charleston home. On his down time, he enjoys surfing, playing guitar and family bike rides with his wife, three children and their pup.
